DESCRIPTION:You are kindly invited to the 42nd international conference Piran Days of Architecture\, which will take place on Saturday\, 22 November 2025\, from 10 am to 6 pm at the Auditorium Portoroz. The 2025 Piranesi Awards will be presented at 6 pm\, followed by the traditional opening of the 2025 Piranesi exhibition at 8 pm in the Monfort Exhibition hall. \nThe programme starts on Thursday\, 20 November. \nSpeakers and Piranesi jury \n  \nHonorary patron of 42nd PIDA is Anna Ramos\, director of Fundació Mies van der Rohe. \n  \nIs Architecture Neutral? \nAs architects\, we regard our field of expertise to be an autonomous discipline which is bound by its internal rules. To an extent\, this is true as we are talking about a specific discipline boasting its own history as well as methods and operational techniques. But on the other hand\, architecture affects everything\, and everything affects architecture. As a result\, it is in no way neutral but rather always situated in one place or another – physically\, socially\, and historically. If architecture were neutral\, it wouldn’t bear social\, environmental\, and political responsibility. It would be apolitical\, confined to the ivory tower of its autonomy. Being\, as it is\, situated in the world and in time\, however\, it is beholden to acting responsibly right here and right now. \nArchitecture is about research which leads to the uncovering and modification of the designated function of the existing\, rather than to the mere creation of new forms. This prompts the necessity of consideration\, which accounts for the bigger picture and acts accordingly\, too. As architects\, we must be active\, develop concepts\, and take decisions even on levels which lie outside the autonomy of the architectural profession. Nowadays\, this has chiefly to do the with the consideration on social injustice and the environmental crisis. Late capitalism is edging architecture’s artistic and social\, but also technical and scientific relevancy ever closer towards a state of crisis. Architecture is increasingly becoming a market commodity\, be it either a luxury product or cultural heritage frozen in time\, or a merciless tool employed by the capital to serve the purpose of profit-making. What is needed is a critical reflection on what architecture is\, and what are the causes and manner of its operation\, as well as its effects. \nMiha Dešman \n  \nPlease\, note that number of seats in Auditorium is limited. We kindly suggest visitors to reserve the entrance to the conference by buying the ticket in advance. DESCRIPTION:Večeri u Orisu:\nDamir Rako – Splitomanija\n19/1/2026 / 18 h \nPridružite nam se u ponedjeljak\, 19.1. 2026. u 18 sati na predavanju “Splitomanija” arhitekta Damira Rake u Oris Kući arhitekture (Kralja Držislava 3\, Zagreb). Moderator predavanja je Ante Nikša Bilić. \nSPLITOMANIJA\nNa svijetu ima vrlo malo gradova koji baštine tako dugu povijest arhitekture. Naravno\, velike metropole pažljivo njeguju svoj status\, znajući kolika je uloga arhitekture u imidžu svakog grada. Split je grad bogate i turbulentne tradicije kojeg je utemeljio vrlo važan rimski car.\nU 1720 godina dugoj povijesti\, sva su graditeljska razdoblja ostavila značajne tragove. Od Dioklecijana do suvremenog doba\, svjedoci smo jedinstvenog grada koji je stvorio snažan identitet i autentičnost. \nKultni status u arhitekturi\, Split ima u inozemnim kulturnim krugovima\, ali ne i kod kuće. Nakon realizacije Splita 3 i poljudskog stadiona\, koji su dobili međunarodna priznanja\, grad evidentno ulazi u fazu stagnacije i zaostajanja. Zadnjih par desetljeća\, u splitskoj sredini se afirmira specifični pasatizam\, u svim sferama društvenih elita. Okrenutost prošlosti zapravo potiče efekt stalne regresije. „Split je vražji otok !“ – čuvena rečenica novinara Darka Hudelista iz 1988.\, danas je aktualnija nego u vrijeme kasnog socijalizma. \nUmjesto fascinacije prošlošću\, jako je važno poticati otvorenost i projicirati budućnost grada u 21.stoljeću. Suvremena arhitektura jedan je od stupova digitalne ere i globalnih promjena. Stoga je uloga nas arhitekata od posebne važnosti za zajednicu i njen progres u budućim vremenima. Svoje projekte i istraživanja bezuvjetno ugrađujem u kontekst Splita. Bolje ili lošije kuće samo su mali kotačići u grandioznom stroju grada. A Split je zaista Grad koji se jednom rodi. \nUlaz na predavanje je slobodan. Vidimo se u Orisu!

DESCRIPTION:Naučno stručna konferencija i sajam o temi ”Tehnologija betona” održat će se 10. i 11.02.2026. godine u Sarajevu\, Hotel Hills. Tradicionalni događaj koji već godinama okuplja struku i nauku na jednom mjestu\, nudi mogućnost uspostavljanja domaće i regionalne saradnje\, komunikacije i edukacije\, i ovaj put će okupiti veliki broj izlagača iz cijele regije\, kao i eminentna imena stručnjaka. S obzirom na to da su betonski proizvodi već decenijama predmet ispitivanja\, cilj diskusije je razmjena znanja i iskustava u različitim oblastima inženjerstva\, a sve s ciljem unaprijeđenja poslovanja\, komunikacije i saradnje. Na konferenciji se iznose regulative i standardi u oblasti tehnologije betona\, prezentiraju dosadašnja iskustva u procesu izgradnje objekata\, te preispituju naučna\, i tehnološka dostignuća kao i profesionalna opredjeljenja u kontekstu proizvodnje i primjene materijala za spravljanje betona\, njihove prednosti i uslovi za primjenu kao i mogućnosti za poboljšanjem. A critical discussion with the founders of the three offices\, ASAP members\, will be led by the renowned Serbian architecture critic Ljiljana Blagojević. ASAP activities will be presented by its executive director\, Igor Marsenić. \nASAP – Association of Serbian Architectural Practices is a business association founded four years ago with the aim of promoting Serbian architecture and design through business networking programs\, the exchange of ideas and experiences among members\, and the establishment of dialogue within the profession and with the wider community. With its open approach to the community\, topics of professional organization\, management\, responsibility\, cooperation\, and public communication\, and above all with its projects and achievements\, the membership is profiling a new architectural practice in Serbia – new in both a business and creative sense. \nWhat architectural practices are being discussed here? DESCRIPTION:Interdisciplinarni program DISPOZICIJA 2026 – dijagram dijaloga održava se u Centru za kulturu Trešnjevka i galeriji Modulor od 12. do 20. veljače 2026.\, dok je izložba otvorena za posjetitelje do 5. ožujka 2026. \nProgram započinje 12. veljače 2026.\, a otvorenje izložbe održat će se 20. veljače 2026. u 19 sati u prostoru galerije Modulor i foajeu Centra za kulturu Trešnjevka. \nDISPOZICIJA je projekt koji arhitekturu promatra kao živ proces – kao polje dijaloga s kazalištem\, glazbom\, performansom i vizualnim umjetnostima. Program vode autori i autorice iz različitih\, ali blisko povezanih umjetničkih područja: arhitektica Ivana Tutek\, multimedijalni umjetnik\, pjesnik i dizajner Stanislav Habjan te arhitektica i glazbenica Bernarda Lukač. \nSredišnji dio programa čine dvije izložbe koje zajedno tvore jedinstvenu tematsku cjelinu: uvodna izložba autora radionice i završna izložba radova nastalih u sklopu studentske radionice arhitekture. Izložbe prate proces\, od autorske ideje do kolektivne interpretacije\, i otvaraju prostor za razmjenu znanja\, iskustava i umjetničkih jezika. \nProgram započinje glazbeno-scenskom igrom – performansom Kafka i sin\, koji se izvodi 12. veljače 2026. u 20 sati i predstavlja tematski i konceptualni uvod u cijeli ciklus.

SUMMARY:Otvorenje izložbe "Nove perspektive"
DESCRIPTION:U subotu\, 28. veljače 2026.\, u 11 sati u Oris Kući arhitekture (Ulica kralja Držislava 3) otvara se izložba pod nazivom Nove perspektive\, izložba 11 mladih\, već uspješnih arhitektonskih praksi. SUMMARY:RAZGOVOR U DPUH-u: Aktualnost moderne arhitektonske baštine u Zagrebu
DESCRIPTION:Tema razgovora je aktualnost moderne i modernističke arhitektonske baštine u Zagrebu. Naglasak je na poticanju dijaloga zainteresirane stručne i šire javnosti o pitanjima nasljeđa moderne graditeljske baštine i njezine uloge u urbanom okviru. Cilj razgovora je razmjena mišljenja sudionika  koji svojim kompetencijama zastupaju znanstvene\, stručne i operativne okvire\, iskustva i interese korisnika te pridonijeti osmišljavanju mogućih strategija održivosti postojećih prostora. \nKarakteristični primjeri su\, između ostalih\, robne kuće Nama u Ilici i na Kvaternikovom trgu multifunkcionalni kompleksi Brodarskog instituta i zgrada Pučkog otvorenog učilišta. Riječ je o iznimno vrijednim ostvarenjima arhitektonske i urbane kulture\, koji potiču na promišljanje novih i/li transformacije prijašnjih namjena. Razgovor o temi uključuje i pitanja konteksta u kojem arhitektura i urbanizam imaju formativne uloge u afirmiranju prostornih\, društvenih i kulturnih vrijednosti. Među ostalim\, razgovarat će se o pitanjima mogućih djelotvornih načina afirmiranja tih vrijednosti\, primjerima dobre prakse\, novim pristupima afirmiranju vrijednosti ove baštine usmjerenim poticanju novih ideja i programa povezanih s mogućim namjenama\, koje bi pridonijele održivosti arhitektonske i urbane baštine. \nU razgovoru sudjeluju: Marijana Sironić\, dipl. ing. arh. DESCRIPTION:You are kindly invited to the opening of the exhibition Student Spring 2026\, which will take place on Monday\, 23 March 2026\, at 7 p.m. at the DESSA Gallery. \n  \nThe Student Spring exhibition presents a selection of master’s theses in the fields of architecture\, landscape architecture\, and spatial planning\, which were created at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Ljubljana\, the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Civil Engineering\, Transportation Engineering\, and Architecture at the University of Maribor\, and the Department of Landscape Architecture at the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana. The projects respond in depth to the current challenges of contemporary space and society: sustainable development\, renovation of existing buildings\, quality of public space\, accessibility of housing\, climate adaptation and inclusive forms of planning. \nMaster’s theses in the field of spatial planning\, culture\, and society often offer thoughtful\, innovative and long-term sustainable solutions. They address topics such as educational institutions\, cultural programs in existing buildings\, housing models for young people\, contemporary forms of housing for the elderly and intergenerational intertwining\, and systemic landscape renovations after natural disasters and in changing environmental conditions. Despite their high professional level and versatile solutions\, most of these projects remain within the academic environment and do not reach the wider public or decision-makers. \nThe Student Spring exhibition aims to bridge this gap. Master’s theses selected by invited mentors from individual faculties are presented as relevant spatial\, social\, and cultural visions that can serve as starting points for development strategies and public policies. The presentation will be complemented by public talks and discussions with decision-makers\, representatives of ministries and local communities\, investors\, and the professional public. \nThe aim of the project is to establish a more sustainable dialogue between academic research and actual spatial development and to encourage closer cooperation between the creative potential of young architects and the processes of realization. At the same time\, the exhibition serves as an important reference for young authors and strengthens their visibility and role in shaping a high-quality\, sustainable space and society.

SUMMARY:Open House Slovenia 2026: All Measures of Architecture
DESCRIPTION:The 17th Open House Slovenia Architecture Festival returns from 17 to 19 April 2026\, opening the doors of more than 100 outstanding architectural projects across Slovenia and beyond. From contemporary homes and public buildings to cultural institutions\, construction sites and urban walks\, the festival offers visitors a unique opportunity to experience architecture from the inside through free expert-led guided tours. \nThis year’s theme\, All Measures of Architecture\, explores how architecture shapes our lives at different levels — from the intimacy of the home to public space\, landscape and community. It asks: Where is architecture headed? Who does it speak to? For whom is it designed? Beyond physical dimensions\, the festival highlights architecture as a measure of relationships\, inclusivity\, responsibility and dialogue. \nVisitors will be able to explore a rich selection of projects across the country\, including newly completed buildings\, heritage sites\, innovative timber architecture and some of the most significant construction sites currently underway in Slovenia. The programme also extends beyond Slovenia’s borders\, with selected guided tours from Slovenian authors in Trieste\, Italy. \nA special feature of the festival is its emphasis on the direct experience of space: architecture is not only observed from the outside\, but entered\, felt and understood through movement\, light\, material and everyday use. \nAdmission is free\, with mandatory registration opening on 8 April 2026 via www.odprtehiseslovenije.org/festival\, where the full programme is also available. \nVisitors can also vote for their favourite projects through the OHS Award 2026\, starting on the first day of the festival.
