“From those early days until his death, Vjeko Ivanišević was a hard-working and therefore highly efficient architect. His body of work is enormous. It is the breadth of his interests and activities that is impressive. For Ivanišević, the design process was always a journey into the unknown. We often talked about the joys of this type of anticipation. He found inspiration in the research process, in that path from basic knowledge to enchantment.
Ivanišević, with his thematic diversity, convinced us that architecture did not champion specialization because mere skill, as he said, hindered the ascension into the wonderful world of creativity.
His conviction regarding architecture and its purpose was remarkable. His houses, the ever-reliable chroniclers, recorded history; they recorded time.
His ability to adapt to a place or time is highlighted by his refined transformation of traditional details. His works suggest that it is only through refined space, consistent modernity and, above all, respect, that one can satisfy the subtle expectations of our heritage.
Ivanišević’s architecture is marked by the inspired artistic and sculptural nature of his compositions, his thoughtful selection of materials and colours, and its careful integration into the surrounding context, making it unique and highly recognizable.”
