The Open House Zagreb Festival is conceived as a promotion of the most attractive architectural works in Zagreb and a meeting of citizens with architects, builders, investors, and property owners. The festival encourages thinking about the values of the city and the role of residents in its creation, and encourages them to advocate for a well-designed, planned built environment. This includes considerations of how architecture deals with ecological, social, and economic sustainability. Open House festivals around the world have been focused on presenting urban landscapes for more than three decades. The first Open House festival was held in 1992 in London, and the Open House Worldwide network now brings together 60 major world cities.
